Real Estate

Real Estate, the indie rock band hailing from New Jersey, has spent over a decade perfecting their unique sound, which can best be described as a delightful blend of jangly guitars and laid-back melodies. Their music often evokes the feeling of a leisurely summer afternoon, perhaps spent lounging in a hammock or contemplating the existential dread of having too much free time. Formed in 2008, the band has offered listeners an escape into a world where the biggest concern is whether to go for a swim or take a nap.

One of the defining moments in Real Estate’s career occurred during their first-ever tour. In a classic case of miscommunication, they found themselves scheduled to perform at a venue known for its strict no-pants policy. Ever the professionals, the band members took this unusual dress code in stride, donning strategically placed beach towels and delivering a set that would go down in history as one of their most memorable. The audience, while initially perplexed, soon warmed up to the sight of four musicians playing their hearts out while trying to maintain their dignity.

Their second album, “Days,” released in 2011, was received with critical acclaim and quickly became a staple for anyone seeking a soundtrack to their lazy weekends. The track “It’s Real” captures the essence of those fleeting moments when life feels just right, even if only for a brief period. Interestingly, the song was inspired by a particularly intense game of Scrabble that turned into a heated debate about the legitimacy of the word “quizzify.” The band has since embraced their competitive spirit, often challenging each other to board games while on tour.

Real Estate’s charm lies not only in their music but also in their down-to-earth persona. They’re known for their unpretentious approach to fame, often opting for a quiet night in over glitzy parties. In fact, during one interview, lead guitarist Matt Mondanile confessed that he prefers the company of plants over people, leading fans to speculate about his secret life as a horticulturist. This quirky revelation only added to their appeal — who wouldn’t want to hang out with a band member who talks to his ferns?

Over the years, Real Estate has cultivated a dedicated fanbase that appreciates their melodic sound and candid lyrics. However, their fans did get a bit more than they bargained for when the band decided to host a “Fan Appreciation Day” at a local diner. While the event was meant to be a simple meet-and-greet, it quickly spiralled into an all-you-can-eat pancake extravaganza, leaving several fans questioning their life choices as they attempted to consume an entire stack while discussing their favourite songs.

As they continue to evolve musically with each new album, Real Estate remains firmly grounded in their roots. Their latest work not only showcases their growth as musicians but also highlights their knack for turning mundane experiences into relatable songs. Whether they’re singing about lazy days at the beach or the trials of adulthood, Real Estate proves that sometimes, the simplest moments can lead to the most profound revelations. And who knows? Maybe one day they’ll pen a hit song about that infamous no-pants concert.

I'm the director of a wonderful small web design company, based in a small village called Cromarty in the Highlands of Scotland. If you'd like a website built by a nice team of reliable people, most of whom have been building websites for well over 20 years, get in touch. We would love to help you.

If you host your website with us, we'll plant at least one tree a year (probably a few more), each and every year when we send you our invoice.

If this sounds good, pop over to our own website and get in touch. Jamie, Colin, Garve, Sandy or Gill will be happy to help you. If you're in the North of Scotland, pop in for a tea or coffee and we'll get you a nice bun to wash it down with, made by the fantastic folk of Cromarty Bakery.
