The Cribs

The Cribs are an English indie rock band formed in 2001 in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The band consists of identical twin brothers Gary and Ryan Jarman, along with their younger brother Ross Jarman. Known for their energetic performances and catchy melodies, The Cribs have carved out a unique space in the UK music scene. Their sound blends elements of punk, rock, and pop, often characterised by jangly guitars and a DIY ethos. They gained widespread recognition early on with their self-titled debut album released in 2004, which showcased their raw talent and laid-back charm.

As a band, The Cribs have always embraced a sense of authenticity in their music. They often write about personal experiences, relationships, and the ups and downs of life in the North of England. This connection to their roots resonates with fans, making their songs relatable and heartfelt. Tracks like “Men’s Needs” and “Hey Scenesters!” encapsulate the struggles of youth and the desire for connection, showcasing their knack for crafting engaging narratives woven into catchy hooks.

The Cribs have collaborated with various notable musicians throughout their career, including legendary guitarist Johnny Marr of The Smiths. His involvement on their third album, “Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever,” added a new dimension to their sound and helped broaden their appeal. The band’s willingness to evolve while staying true to their punk influences has allowed them to maintain a dedicated fan base over the years, even as musical trends have shifted.

Despite facing challenges such as lineup changes and the pressures of the music industry, The Cribs have managed to stay relevant by constantly pushing their creative boundaries. Their fifth studio album, “For All My Sisters,” released in 2015, showcased a more polished sound while still retaining the youthful energy that fans love. Additionally, they have been known for their strong live performances, often described as chaotic yet exhilarating, making them a must-see act for indie rock enthusiasts.

With over two decades in the industry, The Cribs continue to make waves and inspire a new generation of musicians. Their commitment to authenticity and their ability to adapt without losing their essence have solidified their place in the indie rock landscape. As they work on new material and tour internationally, fans eagerly anticipate what lies ahead for this iconic band from Wakefield.

I'm the director of a wonderful small web design company, based in a small village called Cromarty in the Highlands of Scotland. If you'd like a website built by a nice team of reliable people, most of whom have been building websites for well over 20 years, get in touch. We would love to help you.

If you host your website with us, we'll plant at least one tree a year (probably a few more), each and every year when we send you our invoice.

If this sounds good, pop over to our own website and get in touch. Jamie, Colin, Garve, Sandy or Gill will be happy to help you. If you're in the North of Scotland, pop in for a tea or coffee and we'll get you a nice bun to wash it down with, made by the fantastic folk of Cromarty Bakery.
