Even As We Speak

Ever-changing pop experimentalism by one of the best pedigreed bands of the indie pop genre.
EAWS formed in the mid 1980s in Sydney Australia.
After a series of releases on Australian indie labels, they came to the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, who started playing the band’s Goes So Slow single on his show. This brought them to the attention of UK audiences and began a relationship with UK label Sarah Records. The Sarah releases shot them to prominence in the UK, achieving multiple top 10s in the NME and Melody Maker charts with tracks like Falling Down The Stairs and Beautiful Day. The band’s 1992 album Feral Pop Frenzy received mainstream exposure. They recorded 3 sessions for John Peel and 1 session for Mark Goodier at BBC Radio 1. These were released as Yellow Food: The Peel Sessions.
Following its demise, Sarah Records achieved cult status and in 2015 was named number 2 in NME’s 20 Greatest Indie Labels of All Time. The band reformed to play a sold out show at NYC Popfest 2016 and recorded a new EP The Black Forest for Emotional Response. 2018 saw them performing a series of sold out shows across the UK with former label mates Boyracer, Secret Shine and Action Painting! Their 2020 album Adelphi features a dystopian melancholic view of pop music, recycling past pop essentials and distorting them through a dark lens, yet managing to pull unmistakable pop hooks from the rubble of life’s defeats.

I'm the director of a wonderful small web design company, based in a small village called Cromarty in the Highlands of Scotland. If you'd like a website built by a nice team of reliable people, most of whom have been building websites for well over 20 years, get in touch. We would love to help you.

If you host your website with us, we'll plant at least one tree a year (probably a few more), each and every year when we send you our invoice.

If this sounds good, pop over to our own website and get in touch. Jamie, Colin, Garve, Sandy or Gill will be happy to help you. If you're in the North of Scotland, pop in for a tea or coffee and we'll get you a nice bun to wash it down with, made by the fantastic folk of Cromarty Bakery.
